David Grissom is a co-founder and managing partner of Vertex Investments. He has over 14 years of commercial real estate experience. Prior to co-founding Vertex Investments, he worked from 2005 to 2012 for a national commercial real estate firm headquartered in Denver, CO. As their Director of Capital Markets, he sourced and negotiated all debt, managed the acquisition underwriting group, sourced acquisition opportunities and managed assets in the portfolio. While there, David primarily focused on office, industrial and land assets as well as worked on hard money loans and distressed note purchases. David lead the acquisition and underwriting for a $150MM portfolio of distressed commercial real estate loans and worked on over $900MM in acquisitions. From 2012 to 2013, David was the Finance Director for Archstone, one of the country’s largest owners of multifamily properties, prior to the company being acquired in 2013 by Equity Residential and AvalonBay. At Archstone, he was responsible for financing all development and acquisitions in the eastern United States. While at Archstone, David worked on $232MM in closed acquisition and development projects. Following the sale of Archstone, David worked at KeyBank as a Senior Vice President responsible for business development in the Colorado market. At KeyBank, David focused on multifamily, self storage, hospitality and retail assets and closed a total of $696MM in balance sheet and permanent loans.
David earned his Bachelor of Science in accounting and computer information systems from University of Northern Colorado and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in finance from Southern Methodist University. He is a licensed CPA (inactive) and real estate broker. David is also an active member of NAIOP as a member of the Colorado charter’s programs committee and Fight Night committee and as a member of the National NAIOP Deal and Investment Concepts Forum.
